In Hungary The Descendants of the Nazis are in the Streets

In Hungary while the 1956 counter-revolutionary insurrection’s “anniversary” is officially celebrated, in the Budapest streets there took place violent acts of fascist groups. In fact these are the real heirs of the counter-revolution. All the parties that were banned during the People’s Democracy such as the Nazi sympathizers, skinheads, Horthyists, all with their symbols of the Monarchy and the church, with their swastikas and red-and-white colored flags symbolizing the Nazi allied collaborator governments have burst out to the streets. Thus with their own manners they enjoyed the fruits of “pluralistic democracy”. Those political groups, together with the political parties defending the social order, including the successor of the former Hungarian Socialist Workers’ Party the so-called Hungarian Socialist Party (social democratized), altogether arduously and constantly nourish the political culture and ideology under which the most extreme racist-fascist-reactionary elements easily and freely find the opportunity to develop.

The similar process that many Eastern European countries lived through has repeated itself in Hungary. In the beginning people of this country tasted the practical government of the extreme-rightist parties that in a short period dropped their “libertarian” masks and explicitly shifted to the extreme right. The broad masses that got fed up with them desperately voted for the “Hungarian Socialist Party” that was predominantly founded by the party cadres of the socialist period. Yet those were social democratized politicians that were no more related to socialism and without hesitating put into practice the “Tony Blair model”. As a result of this “miraculous” model the foreign debts and unemployment exploded and the working class impoverished more. In 2004, Frenc Gyurcsany, a millionaire in his forties, along with his careerist company participated in the administrative council in a fait accompli and later elected as President. Gyurcsany, with a heavy hand put into practice the “liberal” economic policies with the pretext of EU membership process. The latest protests in Hungary commenced in September with the transmission of his speech in the radios secretly recorded during a closed meeting of national conference of the Socialist Party. In those recordings that were strangely transmitted in the state radio “in a speech littered with swear words” the Hungarian Prime Minister “confronted Socialist members of parliament with what he described as the ‘real state of the country’, and his own coalition government's attempts to mislead the public over the previous four years.” He also tried to persuade and even threatened the Socialist Party administrators to accept a tough austerity package to be applied just after the elections. As a reaction to this the so-called extreme rightist elements and some of the supporters of the Fidesz party in the opposition organized violent protests and occupied some government buildings to divert the reaction of the masses against the government and use this reaction for their own purposes with methods they inherited from the counter-revolutionaries of 1956. In the 50th anniversary of the counter-revolutionary insurrection, the atmosphere created by the collaboration of both the government and the opposition prepared the perfect conditions for the fascist gangs. The “Socialist” Party decorated its election posters with the date 1956-2006, with slogans such as the 50th anniversary, competed with the Fidesz Party of the opposition claiming themselves the real heirs of the “people’s great revolution against the Soviet occupiers”. Thus, by their own hand they made the greatest contribution to the creation of an atmosphere that took the form of an insurrection, of an “orange revolution” embellished with fascist flowers.

We won’t say “diamond cut the diamond”. Because, as in the case of all the other Eastern European countries or, according to the imperialistic propaganda, “the countries that rejoined the true pluralistic democracy having saved themselves from totalitarianism and Soviet pressure” there is no more legal option granted to the workers and laborers than to be a party to the deceptive quarrels of these forces. The parties such as Hungarian Communist Party that give no political concession to the ideology and political tradition of the 1956 counter-revolution are under pression. Yet, a racist party named Justice and Life claiming that “Hungary is being governed by the secret and explicit Jew society” ( a “theory” well known in Turkey!) can legally operate. They even can join the government coalition forming their independent group in the parliament. (As happened in 1998-2002). Vicissitudes of “democracy”!

All those events prove that the only major truth, which is valid both in Europe and in Turkey and also in all the places in which there exits modern class struggles, is very well known by the enemies of the working class: the only real vanguard of the working masses and the sole power that will realize their salvation can only be the united and mighty Communist Party that defends communism without any concession! All the other parties, “socialists”, social democrats, national-socialists etc. are the elements of the exploiters inside the working classes. It is, as it was before, the duty of the Communists of all the countries to get the working classes comprehend this truth that is already comprehended by the class enemies, to draw them to build the independent class Party on this basis.
